ABOUT ME

“Yet, even amidst the hatred and carnage, life is still worth living. It is possible for wonderful encounters and beautiful things to exist.” - Hayao Miyazaki

As a lived experience counselor, I believe each person can reach their full potential once they are equipped with the skills to identify and build on their strengths. After five years of teaching middle school Spanish, I realized my passion for supporting the mental health needs of adolescents and began pursuing my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 2018. As a teacher, I prided myself on my ability to create meaningful relationships with my students and always made space in my classroom to discuss mental health and well-being. I bring these experiences as well as my own personal struggle with mental illness into my role as a counselor through a Dialectical Behavior Therapy lens. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, playing video games, and making art.
